It is a contractual requirement for 2014/15 that The Calverton Practice utilises the GP2GP facility for the electronic transfer of medical records between Practices when a patient registers or leaves the Practice.
At present the GP2GP module within the Practice’s clinical computer system, EMIS, only allows for the electronic transfer of records between EMIS sites and the maximum size of transferable record is 5 megabytes. However, development plans for the transfer of larger records and transfer of records between other clinical computer systems are due to take place in early 2015.
Summary Care Records (SCR)
Information comprising of allergies and adverse reactions, acute medications (past 12 months), current repeat medications and discontinued repeat medication (past 6 months) is automatically uploaded by our clinical computer system to the spine. Any changes to this information is uploaded on a daily basis. Patients who do not wish for their information to be uploaded should complete an “opt out” form which is available from the Practice reception.
Patient Access to their GP Record
The Calverton Practice is currently working alongside NHIS (Nottinghamshire Health and Informatics Service) on a pilot project to allow patients to view their medical records on line. The access allows visualisation of main diagnosis codes, medications and allergies but does not allow for the viewing of documents. Any patient wishing to participate in this trial should contact the Practice and speak to the Assistant Practice Manager.
