The Calverton Practice Newsletter – September 2025
CQC Feedback
Writing the latest newsletter in August it seems strange to be contemplating that Autumn is only a few weeks away. This means that the practice is staring to plan our Autumn flu clinics with 2 dates in October planned. These are both Saturdays – Oct 4th and 11th, the appointments will go on soon and we will send text message with a booking link to those with mobiles who are eligible on the NHS. Patients can also phone to book or call in. As last year we will not be taking part in any Covid booster programme.
Our CQC feedback is now in and as expected the practice has been rated as ‘Good’ overall. We were pleased to see that many aspects of our care were felt to be ‘Outstanding’ but we had already been warned that the as CQC now use a points based scoring system, an overall outstanding rating is nearly impossible to achieve. For those interested the report is now available through CQC and on our practice website – www.calvertonpractice.co.uk/ – bottom R hand corner of home page (as is last month’s newsletter for those who missed it – midway down under Latest news).
Other news to report is the arrival of our new doctor in training to be a GP. Dr Taha Bashir (m) will be with us for 4 months initially but will then return for 12 months in August next year. Similarly, Dr James Owen has left for 4 months but returns in December. Finally, Dr Ruth Baker has successfully completed her training in GP and we are delighted that she will be staying on with us as a permanent member of the team. The latest on Dr Wight is that she will be off for a few months more.
Next, we have been advised at very short notice that the Community Gynaecology Service has had it’s funding withdrawn by the ICB (Integrated Care Board). All patients under their care or follow up with be transferred to the equivalent hospital service. Exactly how this will happen has not been shared with us and we sincerely hope this will not cause too much inconvenience or delay to the care being delivered.
News from our dispensary and practice management team is –
‘We are making it simpler for our dispensing patients to know when their medication is ready. Our free text alert service will send you a quick message as soon as your prescription has been dispensed – whether you collect it from us or receive it by delivery. That means you no longer need to call us to check. Just wait for our text and you will know your medication is ready or on its way. To keep receiving messages, please let us know if your mobile number changes – or if you would like to add a mobile number to your record.’
